Chair
Amy Magrinat
Amy Magrinat has spent the last several years deeply invested in The Lupine School, and is thrilled to be helping the next iteration come to fruition. She loves exploring the natural world with children and bringing them together with animals-a dream job! Amy has a Masters in Education from UNC-Chapel Hill, and is a native North Carolinian. She and her husband Tommy (also an educator!), have two children and several pets. When not in the classroom, they love to travel and explore!

Jillian Geneve
Jillian Geneve is the mother of a Lupine School student and an educator, and has actively supported the development of the Lupine Community School.
Professional Experience
Jillian has a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction and has worked as a teacher for special needs children, gifted , homeschool students, and taught as an adjunct professor in the education department at the University of Tampa. Jillian has also worked as a curriculum designer for children’s classes, camps, programs, homeschool materials, and adult training materials.
Personal Interests
In addition to their 8 year old son, Jillian and her husband have been licensed foster parents for several years. So far, they have enjoyed providing a loving home for seven foster children and are currently awaiting their next foster family member. Jillian has lived and studied in other countries, and enjoys traveling with her family. She and her family also enjoy learning about other cultures in their area. Jillian is a self-published author who loves to write poetry and children’s books as a hobby. Jillian also followed her family’s tradition of flying by obtaining a private pilot’s license, and enjoys flying with her dad. Jillian loves the outdoors and values every opportunity to be outside in nature. Most of all, Jillian loves being a mother and spending time with her husband, son, foster children, and dog.

Birgit fleming
Birgit Fleming has a long-standing connection to the Lupine School and has actively supported the growth and development of the Lupine Community School.
Birgit holds a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and is PMP certified. As a controls engineer with a strong focus on project management, she brings extensive experience in managing complex technical projects, from concept to execution. With a personal interest in finance and accounting, Birgit brings a detail-oriented approach to her role as treasurer, ensuring that the organization's financial processes are efficient, transparent, and aligned with its long-term goals. Her background in controls engineering also allows her to bring a systems-thinking approach to problem-solving and process improvement, ensuring that Lupine continues to grow in a sustainable and impactful way.
Birgit’s daughter has been attending Lupine for several years, and the joy she has experienced alongside her daughter during this time inspired her to be involved in the development of the Lupine Community School. This firsthand experience strengthens her commitment to supporting the school’s mission and ensuring its continued success. Birgit has been involved in many ways, such as developing marketing materials and building out the online presence of the Lupine Community School.
Birgit is bilingual, fluent in both German and English, and is raising her children to be bilingual. She values creativity and enjoys drawing, cooking with her children, and finding ways to bring creativity to all that she does. In her free time, Birgit enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, exploring, and crafting. Birgit and her family share a love of animals and have a variety of pets, from dogs and cats to chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.

katie Aries
Katie is a parent of a Lupine student and a former elementary and special education public school educator. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York and teaching certifications in elementary, special education, and middle school language arts. Katie lives in Pittsboro with her husband and two children. Together they all enjoy gardening with native plants, bird watching, and exploring all that nature has to offer. Katie believes that the Lupine Community School’s vision and mission of cultivating compassion and connecting children with the natural world will have an extraordinary impact on education in our community.

tawni lambert
Tawni has a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Fordham University in New York City (where she completed her student teaching in the Bronx and Chinatown) and has worked with at-risk and credit recovery students in Chicago and spent time teaching at a small community school in Austin, TX. Most recently, she’s been busy running a small travel advising business, living vicariously through her clients while home raising her three kiddos (all Lupine students). In her free time, you’ll find her hiking/enjoying outdoors, tinkering in the yard, and planning adventures near and (very far) away! She has never ending wanderlust, a need to create and an affinity for outside-of-the-box ideas -making the Lupine expansion projection a perfect combination of all her passions. Tawni lives in Chapel Hill with her husband, children and dog, Benny!
